Chess Club – November 2022

Join the chess club at OFPL! Every Tuesday and Friday at 4:30 PM at the Children & Youth Library. Through the game of chess, members of the club are able to bond and improve their chess skills!

  • Each Tuesday we will learn and practice chess theory and strategy together.
  • Each Friday we will compete in a tournament-style format. Prizes will be awarded!

All ages are welcome, although this is targeted at the age 8-18 range. Participants do not need to attend every event.

Northfest

Join OFPL, GallupARTS, and the City of Gallup Parks & Recreation Department in-person at Larry Brian Mitchell Recreation Center on September 24th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for the 4th Annual NorthFest event.

Celebrate the diversity and spirit of Gallup’s Northside neighborhood through art, literacy, culture, and community-building activities that include t-shirt printing, face painting, water rocket building, crafts, storytelling, and live music! NorthFest is free and open to the public.

Summer Reading Block Party

Join OFPL for an end of Summer Reading Block Party on Friday, July 30th at 3:00 PM outside the Children’s Branch near the playground.

  • Play OFPL’s Minute to Win It mini-challenges and win PRIZES.
  • Participate in Chalk the Walk and make your own colorful sidewalk chalk art.
  • Assemble your own Artist Trading Cards and exchange them with other community members.

OFPL Treasure Hunt

Join OFPL on Tuesday, July 6th at 12:00 PM for the great OFPL Treasure Hunt.

Avast Ye, mateys! A treasure map has been discovered!

Battle down the hatches and start your pirate inspired adventure with the first clue. Follow the riddles around Gallup to find the “X” containing the plundered loot of the infamous Captain ‘Tide Turner’ Fellin.

A grand treasure chest full of doubloons awaits the lucky pirate crew to find it first.

The first clue will be posted to OFPL’s Facebook and Instagram, @galluplibrary.
