Diné weaver Lois A. Becenti with Diné Be´ iinà – The Navajo Lifeway will host Navajo Rug Weaving Classes on the fourth Friday of every month.

Join OFPL and guest weaver in-person at The Octavia Fellin Public Library on June 24th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Learn the fundamentals and techniques of rug weaving in traditional Diné style, including warping, carding and spinning.

Courses are geared towards individuals approximately 15-years and older. Supply kits are available at OFPL on a first-come, first-serve basis using the Supply Request Form.

Celebrate Indigenous People’s Day by learning how to create your own rainstick and wampum weaving. A musical instrument that was used by many indigenous cultures to summon rain for crops, animals, and thirst. Wampum weaving is popular in Eastern woodland tribes for ornamental, ceremonial, diplomatic, and commercial purposes.

  • Thursday, February 27th – Paper Plate Weaving (Create your own basket with this weaving project).
