OFPL hosts classes and workshops including but not limited to the topics of financial literacy, citizens’ rights, technology enhancements, and more. OFPL has partnered with local, regional, state-wide, national, and international organizations to host or co-host a library event for our community.

Film Screenings

Join OFPL for Midweek Matinee at the Main Library every Wednesday at 3:00 PM or for Kids Cinema at the Children & Youth Library every Saturday at 2:00 PMfor weekly film screenings of award-winning, classics, documentaries, newly released, and specially selected films.

OFPL Clubs & Organizations

OFPL offers different clubs and organizations that meet regularly and involve intellectual discussions, college success skills, and creative expansion.

Chess Club

Through the game of chess, members of the club are able to bond and improve their chess skills!

  • Each Tuesday we will learn and practice chess theory and strategy together.

All ages are welcome, although this is targeted at the age 8-18 range.  Participants do not need to attend every event.

We READ, We TALK Book Club

OFPL hosts a book club to share intellectual thoughts and passionate discussions about a common book selection.

The Let Them Thoery by Mel Robbins is the next We READ, We TALK Book Club read. This read is in partnership with the City of Gallup Behavioral Health ReCAST Grant.

Make Create Collaborate

In 2019, OFPL established a MakerSpace in the Children’s Branch Meeting Room located at 200 West Aztec Ave. A dedicated space now exists to house the MakerSpace equipment and activities.

What is a MakerSpace?

A MakerSpace is a community-operated, often not-for-profit workspace where people with common interests in topics such as computers, machinery, technology, science, or art can meet to socialize and collaborate.

Open makerspace time

Join us every Wednesday, at 4:00 p.m. for Open MakerSpace time and let your imagination run wild! This open, hands-on environment is perfect for young creators (ages 6+) to explore design and engineering through activities using 3D printers, vinyl cutters, and more.

Gallup career academy

Extended Hours for Adults: Ages 18+ are welcome to join us from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM every Wednesday during Gallup Career Academy time to work on personal projects or career development.

Crafty Kids

Creativity Training for all ages

Join us every Thursday, at 4:00 p.m. on Facebook or YouTube, @galluplibrary, for Crafty Kids, everyone can participate in a hands-on creative expression by building, making, crafting, and more hands-on activities.

StoryTime

Early Literacy Lessons

Storytime features and offers a unique experience for children two thru four in age. Themed stories throughout the month.

Join us every Monday and Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Children & Youth Library for storytime activities, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and read-aloud stories every week!

Storytime sessions teach kids colors, numbers, letters, and words through storytelling, sign language, activities, and songs.
