Celebrate and honor African American Heritage Month as we learn more about the artist Reggie Laurent. This self-taught artist creates abstract paintings using intricate shapes that are entwined together with form and color. Learn how to create your own!

Supply kits are available at OFPL on a first-come, first-serve basis using the Supply Request Form.

Art Demo: Visual Storytelling through Abstract Art

Join us on Facebook, @galluplibrary, or YouTube on Tuesday, May 25th at 1:00 p.m. for an art demonstration featuring OFPL’s own, Beth Kuiper.

Beth will be delving into various art techniques to convey both storytelling and emotion through abstraction. Also, dissecting several works from various local artists and discussing how to create your own abstract art for home.

Tune in on Monday, April 5th at 4:00 p.m. to learn how to create a splatter painting using various leaves to create a unique hangable work of art for your home. Made famous in the 20th century by Jackson Pollock.

Create your own art using various materials found around your home! These courses are geared towards individuals 14 years of age and older.

Tune in on Monday, September 21st at 4:00 p.m. for a demonstration on abstract painting while learning advanced techniques in painting. Exploring and building on what we learned in Abstract Painting 101 & 102 (Watch part one at https://youtu.be/HPFoHuDA9zM & part two at https://youtu.be/TBooN19TPzw).

Part Three explores final details and advanced painting techniques as we build upon the painting.

Creative Corner features creativity freedom to make your own art from various materials that can be found around your homes and/or are inexpensive to purchase. Art courses are for the inner creative geared towards individuals 15 years of age and older.

Tune in this upcoming Monday, August 17th at 4:00 p.m. for a demonstration on abstract painting while learning advanced techniques in oil painting. Exploring and building on what we learned in Abstract Painting 101 (part one video here). Part Two explores advanced oil painting techniques as we build upon the foundation.
