Teen Paint Night – June 2022

Join OFPL in-person at The Octavia Fellin Children & Youth Library on June 24th at 4:00 PM for an immersive workshop as you learn how to paint with acrylics.

In this first workshop, participants will learn how to make a color wheel and learn other basic painting techniques. OFPL is hosting an open call for artworks to hang in Teen City at the Children’s Branch.

We encourage our tweens and teens to decorate using the materials and techniques learned from this first workshop. Supplies will be provided to those in attendance.

Collage Painting

Create your own art using materials found around your home! Courses are geared towards individuals approximately 15-years of age and older. Supply kits are available at OFPL on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be requested below.

Tune in Monday, December 21st at 4:00 p.m. for a demonstration on collage painting. Learn how to make a collage below. We will then apply to collage to make a basic sketch on canvas then continue and create a painting based on the print collage.

Tune in on Monday, September 21st at 4:00 p.m. for a demonstration on abstract painting while learning advanced techniques in painting. Part Three explores final details and advanced painting techniques as we build upon the painting.

Creative Corner features creativity freedom to make your own art from various materials that can be found around your homes and/or are inexpensive to purchase. Art courses are for the inner creative geared towards individuals 15 years of age and older.

Tune in this upcoming Monday, June 27th at 4:00 p.m. for a demonstration on abstract painting while learning the basics in oil painting. This is Part One in a multi-series exploring the fundamentals in abstract painting. Part One explores techniques and brand names trusted by our resident artist and will be laying the foundation to our painting. Artists have been painting with oil paints for hundreds of years and oil paints continue to be popular worldwide due to their versatility, quality, and color. While getting started with oil painting is fairly easy, there is a little bit more to it than acrylics, since you are working with toxic solvents and mediums and the drying time is much longer. Celebrate Youth Art Month!

Join us for an interactive workshop learning how to use acrylic paint to create random patterns utilizing drip technique. All completed works will be displayed for the month of March.
