The city of Gallup invites you to celebrate the centennial of Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial through images and objects, an exhibition curated by the Octavia Fellin Public Library at the Rex Museum located on the corner of Historic Highway 66 and 3rd Street.

Art Attack Challenge

Calling all tween & teen artists! Do you love making art? The Octavia Fellin Public Library (OFPL) is inviting youth artists to submit works of art in any physical medium to decorate the “Teen City” inside the Children’s Branch. Formerly known as, the young adult section.

Now is your chance to design a library space and stamp your mark in our library. OFPL is inviting youth artists from 9 to 19 years old to share original artworks for a two (2) year art exhibition. OFPL’s Resident Artist will work with youth artists to develop mood boards, facilitate immersive workshops, and provide resources to find your voice!

Submissions will be accepted from youth artists living within the Greater McKinley County region, including, McKinley, Sandoval, Cibola, San Juan, and Apache counties.

Courses are geared towards individuals approximately 15-years of age and older. Supply kits are available at OFPL on a first-come, first-serve basis using the Supply Request Form.

Tired of the same old generic picture frames? Tune in on Monday, September 6th at 4:00 PM to try out this workshop to create colorful and unique picture frames that will make your photos pop.

Visions of America A Photographer’s Search for America

Visions of America is an ongoing multimedia project dedicated to capturing the American spirit in print and media presentations. Sohm is an American history teacher turned photo-historian.

Over 30 years he has published his images more than 50,000 times in such publications as National Geographic, Time, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. He will show his latest video production with vintage and modern-day footage of Intertribal Indian Ceremonial.

Icons & Symbols of Our Regional Heritage

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage with us at the Main Library on Thursday, October 10th at 6:30 p.m. and experience a visual journey. Regional artist Diana Molina will present the spirit of New Mexico’s heritage through symbols and iconographic representations, sometimes with a distinctly modern twist. Her photographic collections illustrate popular symbols and also some less familiar female icons.
