Josh Whitman

My name is Joshua Michael Whitman, my preferred name is Josh and my pronouns are They/Them/Their.

I am an artisan & graphic designer.

Born and raised in Gallup, NM for the majority of my life; I have lived in several different communities, towns, and cities across a handful of states within my lifetime. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with a minor in Dance from the University of New Mexico, Class of 2018.

Influences from life, work, trips across the U.S. during my life have sparked and fueled my passion for art. My father is one of the major influences for my interest in art, Serving in the army and stationed in Europe, my father explored museums and galleries during his free time and painted beautiful European landscapes in watercolors.

My art career is filled with a variety of projects, open calls, juried exhibitions and during my spare time I will create both digital and physical works in the following disciplines: painting (oil, acrylic & watercolor), drawing (graphite & ink), and digital photography. I incorporate and explore my relationships between color usage and how my subconscious channels emotions and thoughts onto canvas. My work is primarily abstraction but during the COVID-19 pandemic I have been honing my skills as an amateur photographer and improving the quality of digital replications.
