Cursive & Calligraphy Writing Workshop

Kids with little to no knowledge of cursive writing because of the lack of teaching in the public school system will be able to stop by the Children’s Branch on Tuesday, November 5th and November 19th at 4:00 p.m. to learn how to write in cursive.

Anyone that is interested in learning about calligraphy techniques can also stop by and enjoy this workshop.

FAFSA FRIDAYS!

Join the Money Club at Main Library on:

Between 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a hands-on demonstration to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

You need your FAFSA to apply for additional scholarships for college expenses plus if you file early you may qualify for bonus federal and state grants.

*You must bring your 2018 tax returns.*

The Art of Drumming

Japanese-style drumming highlights culture, discipline and creative expression

GALLUP – The downtown walkway filled with the sounds of drumming as the BK Taiko Japanese Drumming group face demonstrations and taught locals the art of the great drum.

Octavia Fellin Public Library Experiential Learning Coordinator, Joshua Whitman, has been working with the group for a number of months to bring them to Gallup for a hands-on demonstration.

A diversity festival

“Back in July, I wanted to do a diversity festival … I came across their website and thought it was something different and interesting,” he said.

Whitman said the group’s unique talents were perfect for helping spread greater cultural awareness to different ethnic groups in the area.
